Praktiserende læge
What is a praktiserende læge?
The term “praktiserende læge” translates to “practicing physician” in English. These general practitioners (GPs) or family doctors are essential in managing a wide range of health issues, from routine check-ups to chronic disease management. They provide personalized care and preventive services, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive healthcare.
How does it work?
Once you register for a CPR number and receive your yellow health card (sundhedskort), you are automatically assigned a GP near your registered address. This doctor becomes your go-to medical contact for:
- Diagnosing and treating common illnesses
- Managing chronic conditions
- Referring you to specialists if needed
- Providing preventive care and general health advice
Your assigned doctor’s name, address, and phone number are printed directly on your health card.
You can change your GP later through Borger.dk, although a small administrative fee may apply.
