Intranet (Intra)

What is Intra?

Intra (short for “intranet”) is a digital communication system used by schools across Denmark to:

  • Send and receive messages between teachers and parents
  • Share important school announcements and documents
  • Display calendars, event updates, and homework assignments

Each school may use a specific version or platform (such as Aula, the new national platform), but they are commonly referred to as Intra in everyday communication.

How does it work?

Upon enrollment in a Danish public school, parents and students receive login information for their school’s Intra system. Through this platform, users can:

  • View class schedules and activities
  • Communicate with teachers and school administration
  • Book appointments for parent-teacher meetings
  • Track assignments and upcoming events

The system is typically accessed via a web browser or mobile app and is available in Danish (some schools may offer limited English support).

Common Features

Feature Description
Messaging Direct communication with teachers and school staff
Homework Assignments Teachers post and track assigned work
Calendar View class and school-wide events

Example

Once your child is enrolled in Folkeskole, you’ll receive login credentials for the school’s Intra system. You use it to read announcements, message teachers, and check homework assignments—helping you stay involved in your child’s education.

Quick Tips for Expats

  • Ask your school during enrollment how to access Intra and whether support is available in English.
  • Log in regularly to keep up with school updates and homework deadlines.
  • Use the calendar and messaging tools to stay organized and in touch with your child’s teacher.
