Ejerlejlighed
What is Ejerlejlighed?
An ejerlejlighed is defined as an independent unit within a larger property, typically an apartment building. Each unit is owned individually, while common areas such as stairways, gardens, and technical installations are collectively owned by all unit owners through an ejerforening (owners’ association).
How does it work?
Under the legal framework established by the Ejerlejlighedsloven (Condominium Act), owners have exclusive rights to their units and a proportional share of the common property. Each ejerlejlighed is registered separately in the land registry, allowing for individual transactions, mortgages, and transfers.
