Tandlæge

What is a Tandlæge?

A tandlæge is a licensed dental professional who provides oral health services such as:

  • Regular checkups and cleanings

  • Fillings, crowns, and root canals

  • Tooth extractions and emergency dental care

  • Preventive guidance and x-rays

You are free to choose any private dentist and do not need a referral.

How much does it cost?

Adult dental care is only partially subsidised by the public system, and the rest is paid by the patient. Common prices include:

  • Check-up: approx. DKK 150–300

  • Cleaning: approx. DKK 200–400

  • Fillings, crowns, and other procedures: higher costs depending on complexity

Prices vary, so it’s wise to compare clinics or ask for a quote. Some employers offer private dental insurance as part of their benefits package.

Example

You book a dental check-up and cleaning in Copenhagen. The total cost is DKK 550, of which DKK 150 is subsidised. You pay the remaining DKK 400 out of pocket at the appointment.
